Peter James ist ein sehr erfolgreicher Autor, der vor allem für seine Krimi- und Thriller-Romane bekannt ist. Er wurde am 22. August 1948 in Brighton, Sussex, England, geboren und seine Mutter, Cornelia James, war die Handschuhmacherin der Queen. James hat 25 Romane geschrieben, die in über 35 Sprachen übersetzt wurden, und er hat weltweit bisher über 20 Millionen Buchverkäufe erzielt. Er hatte sechs aufeinanderfolgende UK Sunday Times #1-Bücher.
James ist wahrscheinlich am besten für seine Roy-Grace-Serie bekannt, die weltweit über 14 Millionen Mal verkauft wurde. Die Roy-Grace-Serie spielt in Brighton, James' Heimatstadt, und wurde erfolgreich in eine ITV-Dramaserie mit John Simm adaptiert. James' Schreibstil wird von Krimi- und Thriller-Fans für seine schnellen, atemlosen Seiten mit überraschenden Wendungen, düsteren Charakteren und realistischen Darstellungen des modernen Polizeiwesens geschätzt.
