Melissa Scott ist eine hoch angesehene US-amerikanische Autorin, die für ihre einfallsreichen und klug konstruierten Science-Fiction-Romane bekannt ist. Scott wurde in Little Rock, Arkansas, geboren und entdeckte dort während ihrer Junior Highschool-Zeit ihre Liebe zum Science-Fiction, nachdem sie sich beim Sportunterricht den Arm gebrochen hatte. Diese Entdeckung führte dazu, dass sie jedes Science-Fiction-Buch verschlang, das sie in der Bibliothek ihrer Schule finden konnte, und später der von der Little Rock Public Library’s À Son Goût Trust geschaffenen Sammlung.
