Mark Greaney ist ein erfolgreicher amerikanischer Autor, der für seine Action-Thriller-Romane bekannt ist. Er hat sich durch seine fesselnde Gray Man-Serie, in der die Figur Court Gentry vorkommt, einen Namen gemacht. Zusätzlich zu seiner eigenen Serie hat Greaney auch als Co-Autor mit dem berühmten Tom Clancy an der Jack Ryan, Jr.-Serie gearbeitet.
Bevor er als Autor erfolgreich wurde, erwarb Greaney einen Abschluss in Internationalen Beziehungen und Political Science. Sein Bildungshintergrund hat zweifellos zu den detaillierten und authentischen politischen Landschaften in seinen Romanen beigetragen. Um Genauigkeit und Authentizität in seinen Werken zu gewährleisten, hat Greaney umfangreich gereist, sein Open Water SCUBA-Zertifikat erworben und sich in Schusswaffen, Close Quarters Battle und Battlefield Medicine geschult.
Vor 2009 war Greaney ein unbekannter Autor mit mehreren unveröffentlichten Geschichten. Sein Durchbruch gelang jedoch, als sein Debütroman, The Gray Man, 2009 von Jove Books veröffentlicht wurde. Das Buch wurde schnell zu einem nationalen Bestseller und wurde sogar für einen Barry Award nominiert. Dieser Erfolg führte zur Veröffentlichung von drei weiteren Büchern in der Gray Man-Serie, die alle ihre Spuren im Thriller-Genre hinterlassen haben.
Greaneys Arbeit an der Gray Man-Serie umfasste umfangreiche Recherchen und Reisen in zehn Länder. Er hat intensiv in der Handhabung von Schusswaffen, Battlefield Medicine und Nahkampftaktiken trainiert. Seine Hingabe an Authentizität und Detailgenauigkeit haben dazu beigetragen, ihn als respektierten Autor im Thriller-Genre zu etablieren. Im Jahr 2022 wurde die Netflix-Produktion THE GRAY MAN, mit Ryan Gosling und Chris Evans in den Hauptrollen, zum #1-Film auf dem Streaming-Dienst.
Zusätzlich zu seiner Arbeit an der Gray Man-Serie hat Greaney sieben Tom Clancy-Romane mitverfasst und an den Militärthrillern RED METAL und Armored mitgewirkt.
