Lisa Gardner ist eine renommierte amerikanische Autorin, die für ihre Spannungsromane sowie für ihre Romane, die sie unter dem Pseudonym Alicia Scott veröffentlicht, bekannt ist. Gardners Romanautorinnentum begann bereits während ihres College-Besuchs, als sie im Alter von 20 Jahren ihr erstes Buch veröffentlichte. Trotz der Herausforderungen, ihr Schreiben mit ihrem Studium in Einklang zu bringen, hielt sie durch und veröffentlichte schließlich ihren ersten Thriller nach drei Jahren und vier Überarbeitungen.
