Eric Brown ist ein hochproduktiver Autor, der für seine Science-Fiction-Literatur bekannt ist. Er wurde am 24. Mai 1960 in Haworth, West Yorkshire, England, geboren und hat in verschiedenen Teilen der Welt gelebt, darunter Australien, Indien und Griechenland. Das Schreiben wurde für Brown im Jahr 1975 interessant, und seitdem hat er mehr als vierzig Bücher verfasst und über einhundertzwanzig Kurzgeschichten veröffentlicht. Seine Werke wurden in sechzehn Sprachen übersetzt, und er wurde fünfmal für den British Science Fiction Award nominiert, wobei er ihn zweimal für seine Kurzgeschichten im Jahr 2000 und 2002 gewann.
Brown hat mehrere Reihen verfasst, darunter die Virex-Trilogie, die Bengal Station-Serie, die Weird Space-Serie, die Multiplicity-Serie, die Helix-Serie und die Starship-Serie. Neben seiner Science-Fiction-Arbeit hat er auch rund ein Dutzend Bücher für Kinder und Jugendliche sowie Bücher für unwillige Leser verfasst. Er ist bekannt für seine monatliche Science-Fiction-Rezensionskolumne für die Guardian-Zeitung. Hobbys von Brown sind das Sammeln von Büchern und Kochen, insbesondere indischer Currys. Er wohnt derzeit in Dunbar, East Lothian, mit seiner Frau und Tochter sowie ihrem roten und weißen Setter, Uther.
In seiner Freizeit reist Brown gerne und hat in verschiedenen Teilen der Welt gelebt. Die Liebe von Brown zur Science-Fiction begann in jungen Jahren, und er ist dem Genre seitdem treu geblieben. Er ist insbesondere von Agatha Christie und dem Science-Fiction-Autor Robert Silverberg beeinflusst. Bekanntheit erlangten Brows Werke weltweit, und seine Bücher wurden in mehr als einem Dutzend Sprachen übersetzt. Trotz seines Erfolgs bleibt er bescheiden und seinem Handwerk treu, indem er weiterhin Bücher schreibt und veröffentlicht, die seine Leser fesseln und inspirieren.
