Cat Rambo ist eine hoch angesehene Autor*in der Science-Fiction- und Fantasy-Genres (SF/F). Derzeit leben und schreiben sie in der Mitte der USA und ihre Werke wurden für zahlreiche Auszeichnungen nominiert, darunter der Endeavour Award, Locus Award, World Fantasy Award und Nebula Award.
Rambos Debütroman, Beasts of Tabat, wurde 2015 von WordFire Press veröffentlicht, und seitdem haben sie mehrere andere Bücher publiziert, darunter Exiles of Tabat und Devil's Gun. Neben ihrer Arbeit als Autor*in ist Rambo auch eine erfahrene Herausgeber*in und hat renommierte Werke wie Ad Astra: The SFWA 50th Anniversary Cookbook mitgeherausgegeben. Sie haben als Fiction-Editor für das preisgekrönte Fantasy Magazine gearbeitet und ihre Geschichten sind in verschiedenen Publikationen erschienen, darunter Asimov's, Weird Tales und Strange Horizons.
Die Erzählungen von Rambo zeichnen sich durch ihre einzigartige und einfallsreiche Erzählweise aus, die häufig in einer Welt spielen, in der mythische Kreaturen und surreale Elemente in gegenwärtige Settings verwoben werden. Ihre Arbeit wird als "urbanes Mythopoetisches" beschrieben, das technisches Know-how mit der Bereitschaft verbindet, das Unerwartete willkommen zu heißen. Rambo ist ein aktives Mitglied der Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA) und diente zwei Amtszeiten als Präsident*in und engagiert sich weiterhin ehrenamtlich bei der Organisation. Sie leiten die Rambo Academy for Wayward Writers, eine Online-Schreibschule, die sich auf Fantasy und Science Fiction konzentriert.
