Andrew Welsh-Huggins ist ein renommierter US-amerikanischer Autor, der für seine Krimi-Romane und Sachbücher bekannt ist. Er ist in Ohio geboren und lebt in Columbus, wo er als Redakteur und Reporter für die Associated Press arbeitet.
Neben seiner Tätigkeit als Journalist ist Welsh-Huggins der Autor der Andy Hayes-Reihe, in der ein ehemaliger Quarterback des Ohio State und der Cleveland Browns als Ermittler fungiert. Die Reihe wurde positiv aufgenommen und wurde sogar für den Shamus Award nominiert. Neben seiner Reihe hat Welsh-Huggins auch einen eigenständigen Kriminalroman, "The End of the Road", verfasst.
Zusätzlich zu seiner Fiktion ist Welsh-Huggins auch ein angesehener Sachbuchautor. Sein Buch "No Winners Here Tonight" ist die definitive Geschichte der Todesstrafe in Ohio. Er hat auch den Kurzgeschichtenband "Columbus Noir" herausgegeben. Seine Kurzgeschichten sind in verschiedenen Publikationen erschienen, wie zum Beispiel im "Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine", im "Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine", im "Mystery Magazine" und in mehreren Anthologien, wie "The Best Mystery Stories of the Year 2021", "Mickey Finn 21st Century Noir: Vols I and III", "Paranoia Blues: Crime Fiction Inspired by the Songs of Paul Simon."
Die Arbeit von Welsh-Huggins wurde mit mehreren Auszeichnungen nominiert, darunter der Shamus Award, der Derringer Award und der International Thriller Writers Award. Seine Kurzgeschichte "The Murderous Type" gewann 2017 den Al Blanchard Award für die beste New-England-Kurzkriminalgeschichte. Er schloss sein Studium am Kenyon College ab.
